Candidate Michael Demma, Class 09-67

Class 09-67, Michael DemmaAfter OCS... I was ordered directly to Heidelberg Germany and became Company Commander of an experimental organization called Tactical Data Unit. Tactical computers in expandable vans, generators and barbed wire. Not as exciting as those of my brothers who went to Vietnam but with three platoons spread throughout Germany using microwave communication in the field, it was exciting ground breaking work.

After Germany I returned to IBM Cleveland Ohio and worked my "Rank" up to a VP in the Information Systems realm. IBM stands for "I've Been Moved" and we have lived in New Jersey, Lexington Kentucky, and now reside in Fort Worth Texas. My signal training served me well as communication between computers grew.

I retired after 30 years and then with two other gentlemen, started an outsourcing consulting firm called Technology Partners International. We grew to 450 all over the world. We sold out to New York and the company still grows on the stock exchange.

In between professional careers, my high school sweetheart, Alana and I raised six sons. One became a Catholic priest and the others found great spouses and created a family of 32 including grandchildren, all called Demma. What a ride!

OCS provided me with the training to lead and have executive presence and learn that nothing is impossible. OCS will always have a great place in my memory and heart. It turned us from kids to men.
