Korea - The Summer Storm Of 1950
This video was produced with footage from the Army
Signal Corps. It gives an overview of the early days of the Korean War,
during a period that the on screen commentator calls the "Summer Storm Of
1950." It's typical of the kind of movies produced by our government back
then, to help Americans understand what was going on in Korea. Some might
call them informative, others propaganda... whatever they were, they helped
everyone understand what the government was thinking, whether they agreed
with it or not.
Today videos like this are no longer produced about the
wars we enter... perhaps they should be. Strangely, countries like Australia
still produce and sponsor TV shows intended to give the government's view on
events it is involved in. Yes... it is propaganda of sorts... but no one
is fooled by it, since everyone knows who produced the content to begin with.
Still, it might be nice to know what our government is thinking on occasion, without having to
read between the lines of statements made by self serving politicians.
