12th Reconnaissance SquadronDetails of Signal Corps wings...

From a private collection: 1) Six pairs of Army Air Service aviation wings, none with makers marks. 2) Fourteen Army Signal Corps aviation wings: 8 with wings, one with wings and propeller, 3 with wings and globe, one with wings and a shield, and one with wings and a balloon. Reportedly the former property of Lt Raymond Wilson, a pilot with the 12th Aero Squadron. The 12th was one of the very first aero units formed by, and as part of, the U.S. Army Signal Corps.

Established in 1917 as the 12th Reconnaissance Squadron, the 12th remains in service to this day, having performed aerial photography in both World Wars, Korea, Vietnam, Cold War Europe, Kuwait and Iraq. The 12th is now a United States Air Force reconnaissance unit based at Beale Air Force Base, near Marysville, California. The 12th received three Distinguished Unit Citations for its service in Korea for the periods: Korea, 25 February - 21 April 1951; Korea, 9 July - 27 November 1951; and Korea 1 May - 27 July 1953.
