Battalion parade. WebMaster's note: I stood on the sideline during this parade, covered, and took pictures as the flag passed. I didn't stop to salute as it passed in front of me, I just kept snapping away. Within a minute a Colonel approached me and dressed me down for a full 15 minutes... at the top of his lungs, for not standing at attention and saluting our nation's flag. He reported me to my C.O., where the next day I was dressed down even further. There are some things you can avoid saluting in the Army, but the U.S. flag is not one of them. Since that day I've never missed a chance to salute our flag. And I'm the better for it.
