Doss, Roger (L); unknown (R) -- WebMaster's note -- Roger was a southern boy. From OCS Roger went on to advanced training at Ft. Monmouth, where he lived 2 blocks from the shore, in Asbury Park, N.J.  His landlord was an elderly lady, who became concerned if Roger was out too late. Like the good Southern boy he was, and was brought up to be, he avoided the party scene that existed around the base, opting instead to be back in his boarding room by 10:00 every night, so that his landlady could sleep well. The South may have lost the war, but they produced some of the finest Americans that ever lived. Perfect gentlemen. Roger was one of them.
