Remember, this film was produced by the Signal Corps… produced by the SIGNAL CORPS... as a propaganda piece for consumption by the American People.
What's with that, we ask? Since when does the U.S. Army produce propaganda pieces for American consumption?
The enemy... yes. But the American people... no, never. That's not a mission the U.S. military should be performing. If our Congress or White House wants to produce propaganda for home consumption, fine, let them have at it... but when our military gets into the picture, there is something seriously wrong going on.
Let's look at this a little more closely: for the uninitiated, movie Producers have overall control of every aspect of a film's production. They bring together and approve the whole production team, including the Director. Together with the Director their key responsibility is to create an environment where the talents of the cast and crew can flourish to the point that the purpose of the film—its thesis—is made to the audience. In other words, Producers are accountable for the success of the finished film, steering the film from beginning to completion in an attempt to make sure that the point of the film hits home with the audience.
In this film the narrator makes the point that the number of victims from the Taejon Massacre are 10,000 to 25,000, if not more. Carefully sidestepping the accuracy of this claim, which the Producer (i.e. the Signal Corps) clearly knows is false, the narrator obliquely tells us that “...perhaps the total figure right now is approximate, if that makes any difference.”
Well, it does make a difference.
You see, when the U.S. military gets involved in making propaganda films for the American public accuracy is important. More than important, it is essential. The fundamental point here is that when the U.S. military produces anything for consumption by the American people—even including reports of how well we are doing in our fight against ISIS—it must be accurate. The truth must be told.
Expanding on this: when the U.S. military makes propaganda films for consumption by the enemy, or even those third parties we may want to win to our side, license may be taken. But NOT when it comes to pitching facts and figures at the American public; NOT when those facts and figures are pitched by the U.S. Army; and most certainly NOT when the ones doing the pitching are, as in this example, Officers of the U.S. Army Signal Corps.
You can see where we are heading with this, right? What is happening in this Korean War example of a propaganda film is little different than what the military Officers at CENTCOM are doing today, when they deceitfully bend the facts about the war on ISIS to suit the current administration's narrative.
The actual number of dead in the Taejon Massacre was not 25,000+, it was in the order of 7,000. Yet that’s not the worst of the lies that the Signal Corps Producer used to underwrite this bogus propaganda piece. The worst of the lies was that the Taejon Massacre was conducted by the North Korean Communists. It wasn't. It was conducted by South Korean police, while American military and intelligence people watched.[1]
What do we make then of our military when military Officers participate in deceiving us Americans? What do we make of our own beloved Signal Corps, anxious beyond measure to help win the war in Korea, when it takes center stage as the Producer of propaganda films... in this case a film that fully intends to deceive American viewers into thinking that a particularly bloody massacre of the Korean War was conducted by North Korean aggressors... when in fact it was done by our own ally, while we looked on?
What do we make of the military today, where at the highest level military Officers—MILITARY OFFICERS—within CENTCOM concoct lies to reinforce the viewpoint of a sitting administration... lies that are foisted not on our enemies, but on we the people, the American public?
This author makes of these acts exactly what they are: treason. This kind of willing military involvement in deception and lies against our fellow countrymen must be stopped.

Finally, let us drag into this discussion of our government and military's liaison against we the people other signs that our American form of government is failing. Let us bring into the equation of our own military fabricating falsehoods and lies and foisting them on we the people the fact that our political parties are doing the same. Can anyone be trusted these days? Can we the people believe anything that comes from the mouths of our military, political parties or government leaders?
Consider if you will the situation with the Democratic Party, and their getting caught pulling strings behind the scenes to diminish Bernie Sander's chance of winning the Primaries, in favor of Hillary Clinton.
Aren't political parties formed by adherents for the purpose of enhancing the ability of the members of that political party to judge the capabilities of their various candidates for any particular political office, and from that process then choosing, from among the candidates available, that one person who the majority of the adherents feel is best qualified to seek election to the office in question?
Isn't a political party nothing more than an amalgamation of all those who believe in the party's platform?[2] And isn't such an amalgamation little more than a club, organization or association of such like minded people? And didn't they get together and form this "club" for the purpose of deciding—by a majority vote—who should be their candidate for the election in question?
Why then would one want to belong to a club whose purpose it is to select candidates for political office, where those at the top are pulling the strings to assure that no one other than those people at the top's preferred candidate wins the selection/election process? Aren't the members supposed to make that decision? Isn't that the purpose of the club? Or put another way, if the purpose of belonging to a political club is to select candidates for office via a free and open vote, yet that vote is being manipulated by those that run the club, then why would anyone want to be a member of that kind of club?
Isn't that what recently happened with the Democratic Party and Ms. Wasserman-Schultz and her henchmen collaborators?
Consider then, this particular club—the Democratic Party—is one of only two viable political parties in our entire country. That's it folks, you either elect for President someone from the Republican Party or the Democratic Party. It's not like we have 8 or 10 parties to pick from... there are only two, and one of them is corrupt! How sick is our country that we have only one political party that we can trust?
It boggles the mind... why on earth would anyone want to be a member of a corrupt political party? If I belonged to a private golf club and those at the top were rigging the golf tournaments, I would drop out immediately. If I belonged to a religious organization and I found out that the priests at the top were lying to me about what God really, really said, I would denounce the charlatans, leave that religion and search for God's true meaning on my own. Why on earth would someone want to be a member of a political party that claims to be bringing you the best possible candidates to chose from, when in reality they are stacking the deck in favor of their preferred candidate?
It amazes this author that those who belong to the Democratic Party have not been resigning their membership in droves. While it is humorous that Grouch Marks once said "I don't want to be a member of any club that would have me", here we could paraphrase him and say "Why would I want to be a member of a club that lies to me, rigs their elections, and uses my membership to drive home their own personal agenda instead of those of the majority of us members of the club?"
Yet when all of this recently came to light—the fact that Democratic Party leaders were rigging their own election [3] —instead of the media looking more closely at the sorry state of affairs this creates in a country with only two political parties able to propose serious candidates for our consideration, instead they focused on where the information about rigging the Democratic Party's selection for its Presidential candidate came from. Rather than the members of the Democratic Party rising in opposition and disgust at what their "club" leaders had done to them, instead they focused on who spilled the beans.
Amazing... simply amazing. With slight of hand the clever people at the top of the Democratic Party who performed this treachery deflected the criticism from one relating to their own treasonous behavior to the behavior of another group: the Russian hackers.
By claiming—probably rightfully so—that the Russians hacked their servers and stole their eMails, and then released those eMails to the American public, they made their pitch to the public that people should have sympathy for them. Their plea—supported by America's media and press—was that the Democratic Party leaders were in fact the ones who had been wronged. Not the members of the club, but the ones who ruled the club were the ones who were wronged.
How were they wronged? The eMails on those servers were private... confidential if you will... and should never have been released to the public, they said.
Disgusting, totally disgusting.
Again, we have only two viable political parties in our country, and in this case the leaders of one of them conducted traitorous behavior, manipulated the members of their own club to achieve their end goal, lied about it, and then blamed the party that released the facts about their actions for the mess that ensued.
Well, this author has news for them: it doesn't matter where the truth comes from, we the people have a right to know it. If our own political parties... government... military... or any other controlling entities within our nation lie to us and covers up the truth, it matters not how we find the truth or from whom. What matters is that we find the truth.
If, for the members of their Democratic club, the only way to find out that the Democratic Party is pulling the strings behind the scenes and obfuscating, concealing and obscuring their true actions and intent is for Russia to release eMails it has hacked, then thank God for Russia. For us Americans, getting to the truth is far more important than who brings that truth to us. People like Edward Snowden are as much an American hero as a traitor. We need to know these facts. This is no longer 1890 and this is no longer a country where we the people are too stupid and simple minded to understand what is going on in the world, nuances and all. There is no reason at all to not tell us the truth.
Yes, it may be true that Russia, by releasing these eMails, is trying to manipulate our election process... but is that any worse than our own Democratic Party trying to do the same? In the end then, aren't the two are equal? The only difference is that one of them is trying to manipulate the process by exposing the truth. Too bad that one is the Russian government. It should have been the other way around.

So what kind of a conclusion can we draw from these several examples?
Clearly, one of the lessons we should learn is that while in most cases our active duty military leaders should keep their mouths shut when it comes to the issue of what’s wrong with America, we will concede that there are times when their speech is needed and proper… but only if it is offered while they are out of uniform.
It’s another thing however for them to engage in official military duties where falsehoods are being crafted and facts are being distorted for the purpose of swaying American public opinion in support of one government agenda or another. The U.S. military should not be creating propaganda pieces for consumption by the American public. That’s not a role the U.S. military should be playing. We offered the case of the Crime of Korea video as an example, but our real point of focus are those CENTCOM military Officers who may have been involved in doctoring ISIS intelligence to suit the current Administration's views on what's going on in the Middle East.
An investigation should be conducted to find out who these military personnel are, after which if the facts are sufficient they should be tried for treason. If they are found guilty, they should be hanged. That will send a clear message to U.S. military Officers—down through the next 100 years—that American military Officers still on active duty should: a) stay out of politics, b) not lie to the American people, and c) adhere to their oath of command, or resign their commission.
The same is true for those civilians involved in this mess, although life in prison for committing acts of treason may be sufficient for them, rather than a summary hanging.
As to what can be done with the fact that we have only two political parties, and one of them is corrupt beyond measure... God knows.
As a nation we are stuck. It is highly unlikely that we will all pick up pitchforks and head to Washington.
About the only answer we have is this: say your prayers and vote wisely this coming November. Your country depends upon it.

[1] Bruce Cumings, historian and author of books on the origins and conduct of the Korean War. [2] A political party platform is a formal set of principal based goals which are supported by a political party or individual candidate, in order to appeal to the general public, for the ultimate purpose of garnering the general public's support and votes about complicated topics or issues. A political party is formed of the members of the public that believe in the platform and want to see it enacted by the political leader that they, the "club" or association of members, feel most represents their views. [3] Here again the behavior is treasonous. In a country with only two viable political parties, if one of them is using deception, lies and falsehoods to foster their candidate... and the subject of those corrupt actions and efforts are the people of America... then their actions fall under the definition of treason, as they constitute an attempt to suborn the integrity of the United States of America and its ability to reflect the wishes of its people.
